Testimonial

"Having developed for over 10 years I’ve been searching for a CMS that’s as flexible as the large scale open source platforms such as Wordpress or Umbraco, yet more efficient and much, much more secure. the root is seriously slick and my clients find it easy to use."

FAQs

What is the root?
the root is a cloud-based content management and marketing solution. It provides a single-dashboard view of content, e-commerce and analytics, enabling scaling businesses to easily update their website, generate leads and drive sales through their own web portal.
Is the root open sourced?
the root is a hybrid of open-sourced and closed-source. The front-end is fully open-sourced. It offers front-end developers complete flexibility; they can build their own templates, integrate progressive web apps and make content updates. As we are huge advocates for security, the core is closed-source in order to ensure only those accredited in our certified developer network have access to the core data structures and can update these structures. Find out more about our developer network here.
Can I host the root on my servers?
the root is a content management and marketing solution fully managed and hosted in the cloud, so you don’t need to worry about hosting, maintaining files or managing updates. However, we understand businesses have different needs and may need to host sites on their own servers. That’s why we have developed a number of more bespoke enterprise style packages tailored to your needs. Additionally, we created xylem, a campaign-based solution that enables you to license the tool on your own systems. Get in touch to discuss your requirements and the best solution tailored to you.
Why is the root cloud-based and not hosted?
We want the best for our customers and cloud-hosting is just more scalable and resilient. With cloud-hosting there is no need to manually add or remove server space meaning that as your business scales, so does your website – without you having to lift a finger. All information is stored across multiple servers, so if one server goes down the information isn’t lost. Being cloud-based allows for seamless updates ensuring customers are always using the latest version of the platform and feature releases.
What happens when I want to leave?
If you choose to leave, you can easily package up the front-end templates and database structures. It is likely your templates will need some sort of adaption in order to migrate to a third-party CMS. We can help manage that process or introduce you to a certified developer. Depending on the size and scale of the project our implementation team can quote to support.
Can I use bespoke templates with the root?
Absolutely, the root is designed with flexibility in mind. Our open-sourced front-end allows for ultimate customisation. Check out our resources for developers or our pre-created templates.
